From our President
Happy Fall Trail Riders!!!

We have not had a lot going on this month… that I remember anyway. We had our monthly meeting on September 16th. The program was a video called Every Time, Every Ride. This video should be an absolute must for every rider to watch at least once if not every few years as a reminder!!!! This is a professionally produced educational video that demonstrates the need for SEI* protective headgear. There are Interviews blended together with footage of horses in a wide variety of sports (Cutting Horses, Eventing, OMokSee, Trail Riding, Etc) which show the benefits of wearing the proper helmet--as well as the unfortunate consequences of riding without one. The video was a heck of a gut check for those of us who watched it. Please remember to be safe when you ride… Thank you Marcia, for bringing the video for us to watch.

The Helena High Schools Rodeo Team is once again using the clubhouse for their monthly meetings. They were happy to make the same arrangement with us as they did last year for this usage. We look forward to seeing the kids and their parents down at the West Arena in the spring for a clean-up day!!!

October 14th at 530pm is the date and time of this year’s Chili Cook Off and Pumpkin Decorating Competition. Per our organizers … Come test your chili making skills (you make ahead of time and bring with you that night to share)! Members and their guests will taste each chili then vote and the winner gets a prize! If chili isn't your thing then decorate a pumpkin and bring it! Carve it, paint it, or dress it up! The most creative wins!! Bring your friends and family!! Hope to see you all there!!

And last, but not least, here is your reminder that we are in need of people willing to be on the board of directors. Both Cynthia (Programs) and Vickie (O-Mok-See) have informed the Board that they will not be seeking re-election next year. As I have stated, I will not be seeking re-election either. Give some thought to taking one of these spots: President, Vice President, Secretary, or as a board member (we have 3 spots to fill). If you are unsure of what is expected please contact a current board member and ask. Hope to see you all on October 14th…

As always … if you have questions or concerns, please let me know. Heather 406.492.7066 hmtnavy@blackfoot.net

Vickie Blixt, O Mok See Director

Hey members! This is a really quiet time as respects O Mok See activities so not much to report on my end.

I would like to let all of you know that when my term ends this year, I will not be putting my name up for a seat on the board. I've learned a lot the past two seasons but feel that it's time for some new perspectives. Bundle up, winter is on its way!

We are trying to get a feel for what you would like to see the club doing…so if you have any suggestions for proposed events, please contact:

I will be out of town during the next fun Trail Rider activity but I hope a lot of you will go and have a great time tasting chili. I had a new recipe I wanted to try also but I will save it for next year.

As a long time member I have watched club membership increase and decrease many times. We seem to be in a period of decreased membership and a lot of board vacancies are coming up. I am hoping many of you will step forward to serve on the board. We have tons of fun together with and without our horses because of the creative planning and energy expenditures by our fellow members. We are a social as well as an educational bunch promoting the bond between people and horses. We want to continue the enthusiasm for horses with future generations. Keeping people involved and excited about our club is one way to do this. Get involved- run for an office on the board. Marcia Gray
