From our President --- Marcia Gray

Dear Helena Trail Ride Members, Ice cream, anyone?

Our June ice cream social is an annual get together with HTR members, friends, family and neighbors for those members who want to stop by the clubhouse and visit a spell. Former members and family of former members are all welcome to reminisce, talk horses or current issues of the day. We would like to see you and share stories and ice cream. June 15th, 6:30 pm.

Welcome new/previous members Kim and Rory Copeland. They have tons of experience to share and a willingness to help anyone in need with a horse on the trail.

Time to plan a slot at the gates for the Stampede. We have the East and West gates Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It would be great if we could do some trading so that all of us can see one night of the rodeo or concert when we wouldn't have to work a gate the same evening. This is our fund raiser for the year that helps to pay for insurance, Saddle club dues, incorporation fees, building and arena upkeep, parties and other activities that are not self supporting. Please lend a hand during the Last Chance Rodeo and Stampede July 27th-July 30th. We are contracted for both gates: - Wednesday July 27 5:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. - Thursday July 28 1:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. - Friday July 29th 1:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.- Saturday July 30 11:00 A.M. to 9:30 P.M.

Jessica should have a sign up schedule out soon so check your calendars and be ready to sign up for a few hours either day or either gate. Chairs, water and mosquito spray are handy to bring with you. We will try to have Keith and Roger from the Fairgrounds office come to the July 13th meeting to answer questions and explain how the gate process is going to work this year.

Thanks to Tom Johnson who gave us first aid tips at the last meeting.

Julie Muscutt from the Tri-Arabian club invited us to a non-competitive trail ride June 4th.

Rita Newman (formerly Rita McNees) has many ladies size 16 shirts she would like to find a good home for.

East Helena Rodeo Parade is looking for riders to participate in their parade July 9 with lineup starting at 12:30. You can sign up this same day but it would be handy for them if you do it a couple of days ahead. This is also the same time as the National O-Mok-See.

I see the Eastons are hosting lessons at the Fairgounds again, their next session is June 13. This is a great time to get a little tune up on your horse with a nominal fee and small classes. A copy of their flyer is attached, and can be viewed at www.eastonhorsemanship.com. Contact them for more information and sign-ups.

Hope to see you enjoying ice cream June 15th at the Clubhouse. Anyone with suggestions for programs or activities, please come to a meeting and share, or let a board of director know what you would like to see or hear about.

Any member can contribute to the Pony Tales. For sale or wanted items and articles must be to Sharon by the 10th of each month. Only half kidding, I told Sharon that if it wasnít in the Pony Tales it didnít happen. It is important to me that no Helena Trail Rider member is left out of the loop because he/she doesnít have the latest social communication device. Send items to trailridershelena@gmail.com. So far we have had a couple of rides. First ride was at the reservoir. We had a small group and it was a nice, enjoyable day.

Chris Warren Ė Nearby poker rides if anyone in the club is interested:

July 9 - Two poker rides, both with Back Country Horseman. One is with Gallatin Valley BCH, and is located at Bridger Ski resort. All riders have to be signed in by 10. The other is with Upper Clark Fork BCH in Gold Creek. You also have to be signed in and ready to ride by 10. Both BCH rides offer lunch afterwards. I have attended both, and they are worth the drive. They have early sign up, which saves a little pocket change. www.bchmt.org, then go to state chapter. I believe the information is under the events tab for both Gallatin and Upper Clark.

If anyone wants additional information I gave the brochures to Cassie, and will post them on the board at the club as well. Thanks, and have a super day

We are trying to get a feel for what you would like to see the club doingÖso if you have any suggestions for proposed events, please contact:

2016 state entry packets - From Amanda:
omokee

Please let me know if you do NOT want packets sent via snail mail, or who want it sent to a different address from the one given to me at the convention! Please pass this on to all club reps!!!!!

Included in the packet are the entry forms, royalty forms, scholarship forms, and stalls /camping info! Please read through carefully when entering your club members. I have an info sheet on top that goes through the process!

Please help your club members try and get their partners/teams together so less needs to be done at the last minute! The forms are to be postmarked by August 4th to prevent late fees!!!!

Send the originals to me, and the copies and payments to the treasurer, the address is located in the packets. There is also an excel form attached that lists out who and how many events individuals entered in 2015! Please refer to this when signing up your club members to see if they owe anything different than just the $10. Please let me know if anyone has any questions and I will help you out!!!

I want this to go as smooth and easy as possible! I think that I explained it well, but I also came up with how to do it.... so who knows :)

From Patsy Althof, HHS Registrar, (406) 324-2212:

Attached to this e-mail is the new O-mok-see schedule, as we have had a few canceled. Donít forget dues for the district need to be paid before the 1st point show (this weekend) or that club members donít get points, also a list of members need to be into me.

Whitehall District Point Show this Sunday. Mark your calendars, hope to see everyone there.

Well, Memorial Day weekend lived up to its reputation. The Anaconda arena holds a ton of water but not as much as we received. For the safety of our riders and horses we cancelled the games that weekend. A makeup date will be announced at a later date.

This year we will be doing a one-time $20 fee for year-end prizes per rider, which must be paid by the third show. Contestants will be eligible for prizes if they attend at least 3 out of 4 shows. For those who have not come to our shows they will be at the Anaconda Saddle Club. The address is 81 Saddle Club Drive Anaconda MT 59711. Google etc. should lead you there or you can call for directions. Any other questions can be answered by Annie at (406) 491-5283 or Jeremy at (406) 690-0225.
