Welcome to August fellow Trail Riders – Our point show O-Mok-See went extremely well!!! We had a great new PA system…you can hear from everywhere at the arena now. What a difference that makes.

There was lots of great help up in the announcer’s booth … thank you to Shirley, Marcia, Carol, and Vickie. Kate, Marcia, and Barb did a fantastic job of running the concession. I can’t take any credit for how that went… I was either handing out free otter pops or taking a nap in our camper Another great helper was Sherri Onstott on gates. If there were others who were out and about volunteering I would like to say thank you. These are just the folks that I can remember.

Our Trail Director led a ride for a few folks who joined her up Trout Creek. I have never been up there, but from the pictures that got posted on Facebook I want to go. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The next ride is for Wednesday August 12th… Switchback Trail. Can’t wait to see the pictures from this ride too.

On August 29th we are heading out to Sonny and Bev Stiger’s for the last event in our series … the obstacle course. I am excited to see what has been planned for this. This is going to be potluck lunch. The Trail Riders will provide burgers and hotdogs. We are asking that folks please bring a side dish to share with everyone. Once again if anyone can come early please do so and help set up the course … all help is going to be greatly appreciated.

Hello Everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful summer. Eric and I have been taking advantage of the long days and lovely temperatures to continue working on our timing, feel and balance. We just got back from Buck's Clinic in Livingston a week ago and received great feedback on refinement, proper arm/leg positions, timing, etc... He definitely challenged us in new ways that showed us where our holes are in training.

However, Buck being the master that he is, also reinforced our areas of strength and left us with words of encouragement to continue on the path. We are always happy to pass on any words of wisdom or tips to other enthusiastic students who enjoy the journey of skilled horsemanship. With Warm Regards, Joanna and Eric Easton

Attached to this e-mail is the entry form for the Saturday Aug. 15 point show in Anaconda. Pre-entering would help us a ton. Please return the entry to myself or Annie. For those that are interested in a little more practice before State, we will also be holding our Copper Series O Mok See on Sunday. We will have a very limited number of stalls available for $15/night/stall. Please contact Annie or myself to reserve stalls. They will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. For those wishing to bring their own panels/electric fence we will have space available for dry camping at no charge. We will be offering concessions for both days.

From Butte: Take exit 208 to Anaconda. Follow MT-1 through town approx 13 miles from I-90. The saddle club is about 2.8 miles past the west end of town (Thriftway gas station is the end) on the right hand side of the road. Look for the red barns and the arena. Be advised. The speed limit is very slow all the way to the club.

From Deer Lodge: Take exit 201 to Warm Springs. Turn right from the ramp to the frontage road. Turn left at the red flashing light onto the frontage road. Take a right at the yellow flashing light onto MT-48. Turn Right onto MT-1 and proceed through Anaconda.The saddle club is about 2.8 miles past the west end of town (Thriftway gas station is the end) on the right hand side of the road. Our Switch Back Trail ride is being rescheduled! We will let you know the date. The directions are vague but it's easy to find. Turn left on Rimini and drive 3-5 miles, look for the parking area on the left. Please come join us! We'd love to see your smiling faces, and bring your friends!! Marcia meandering

I have heard the adage make hay while the sun shines for many years and it especially true when actually putting up and hauling hay. We finally have most of ours in the barn after letting it dry following a couple of good rain storms. We appreciate the water so we won't be complaining. Even though we weren't riding it was a very fun O-Mok-See. It was great to see all ages competing, from toddlers to grey hairs. This was a point show so it was important to be precise and accurate when timing and keeping the records. Thank-you Vicki and Carol for letting me help. I couldn't pick out names of everyone who worked at a gate or in the arena, but the show would not go on without you so if you were there, thanks so much.

Kate and Heather generously provided their nice camp trailer for a concession stand, did all the shopping and sold the food. Big thanks to Barb who tended and served the tasty grilled items. mmmm good.

Next O-Mok-See or practice come and learn where you can help. More people are needed at our events, riders and timekeepers alike.
